NaNoWriMo 2011

ManuscriptI’m participating in NaNoWriMo this year and have added the badge to my blog.  I was a beta tester for them during their new website launch and continue to be a tester.  I love the sense of community that the challenge brings and the sense of achievement when I plug my word counts into the site and see I’m going to make my goal.

For the last two years, I have participated and won.  While the words were there, the structure is not.  Both of those novels require extensive edits which I’m chipping away.  This year, I’ve decided to be more prepared.  I’ve been what they call a “panster” the last two years but have decided to try outlining.  Using Scrivner ‘s special NaNoWriMo trial version,  I’ve setup the basic structure for my novel, with notes about where I want the scene to go.

With just this basic structure, I’m hoping I have left enough room to discover my story while providing myself the framework my writing needs to tell the best story I can.  I’ll post progress updates as the November progresses including what I’ve had to change or what is working well.
